Job description

Colossal is seeking a highly organized and resourceful General Assistant / Coordinator to support ongoing documentary coverage and original productions across pre-production, laboratory and field shoots, and post. This role is designed for a proactive problem-solver who anticipates the needs of the team, keeps schedules, logistics, and materials moving, and stays calm when real-world stories unfold in unexpected ways. The ideal candidate is eager to grow while helping capture some of the most extraordinary stories in science as they happen.ย 

This position is based on-site full time in Dallas, TX.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Production Support

  • Assist with shoot prep including call sheets, schedules, and logistics coordination
  • Help organize gear lists, rentals, and shipping/returns
  • Coordinate basic travel, locations, and crew needs as directed
  • Track deliverables, shoot requirements, and approvals

On-Set Support

  • Provide general on-set support across departments (camera, lighting, production)
  • Help manage time, setup transitions, and crew needs during shoots
  • Assist with gear movement, setup, and breakdown
  • Handle runs, pickups, and last-minute problem solving

Production Coordination

  • Maintain clear communication between internal team, freelancers, and vendors
  • Track shoot progress, flag issues, and help keep production on schedule
  • Support coordination of releases, permissions, and basic production paperwork

Media & Asset Management

  • Assist with offloading, organizing, and backing up footage on set
  • Maintain clean folder structures and labeling for post-production handoff
  • Help manage internal asset libraries for easy retrieval and reuse

Post-Production Support

  • Assist with media organization, exports, and delivery prep
  • Track edits, versions, and feedback
  • Support upload and distribution of content across platforms

General Operations

  • Jump in wherever needed. Production, creative, or logistics
  • Anticipate needs before they become problems
  • Help maintain a calm, efficient, and solutions-oriented set environment

Qualifications:
