Role description:
The Cincinnati, OH team is looking for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable solutions to address water issues like quality, scarcity, reuse, management, and resilience as an Entry Level Water Engineer. Collaborating with our experienced water professionals, you will support and drive the development of projects, interact and work with clients, and develop your technical capabilities.
The role sits within our global business area Resilience. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we're feeling the effects climate change, rapid urbanization, loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we're seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. Role accountabilities:
As an Entry Level Water Engineer on our Cincinnati team, you will be involved in evaluating, planning, and designing projects related to water/wastewater/stormwater treatment and conveyance, including pipelines, treatment plants, and pumping facilities.
Typical tasks will include data analysis, technical writing, preparing engineering calculations, development of detailed drawings, cost estimation, and coordination with equipment manufacturers. Your support will also extend to project management activities. Other tasks that may arise periodically include field work such as site visits, sampling/ water quality analysis, or preparing equipment inventories. Design projects that proceed into construction will require supporting contractors through equipment reviews, answering questions, and observing construction activities.
In addition to the accountabilities mentioned above, you will also:
  • Support preparation of reports, presentations, and other audio-visual materials, and participate in client meetings.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality, health and safety standards, and facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects on time and budget.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to accommodate collaboration with team members across the U.S. and internationally.
  • Learn and use digital tools to enhance customer experience, team and client collaboration, and project delivery including configuration and deployment of SharePoint, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Power BI, and Augmented Reality.

Knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to water/wastewater/stormwater is essential. Familiarity or experience with AutoCAD and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are also valuable skills that will contribute to your success in this role.

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or a closely related engineering discipline).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior work/internship experience at a design or consulting engineering firm or municipal work environment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and/or Revit
  • EIT certification

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
