J. Baur Machining is a manufacturing company located in Mars, PA. We have been a leader in precision machining and contract manufacturing for over 40 years. We are family-owned business made up of about 20 amazing employees. We feature automated CNC technology with 18 CNC machines in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility. We love Mazak, Multi-Tasking equipment!
Who Are We Looking For:
We are looking for an experienced CNC Set-Up Machinist who can make an immediate impact in our shop. This is a great role for those who enjoy working in a team environment and can jump from one machine to the next performing set-ups and troubleshooting for our machine operators. Our ideal machinist would be familiar with Mazak Multi-Tasking Equipment in our Mills and Lathes Department. This role would be responsible for independently setting up, editing, changing tools, checking your first article inspection, and running CNC equipment. If this sounds like your area of expertise, then we want to hear from you! We will provide on the job training to someone with the right skill set.
What Your Day May Look Like:

  • Perform job set-up on various CNC Equipment by reading and understanding the steps conveyed on a job traveler and blueprint.
  • Set up, edit, change tooling, and run first article inspection on machine before handing it off to an operator. Must be able to clearly and patiently convey job details to coworkers. 
  • Assist in training  Entry Level Machinists.
  • Trouble shooting on machines in this fast-paced environment.
  • Overseeing multiple machines at a time.
  • 1st Shift: Monday thru Thursday 6am-4:30pm and Friday 6am-2:30pm (Overtime! 48 hour work) Too many hours? - no problem - 40-44 hour work week available as well.
The Perfect Candidate:
  • Ability to write basic programs using  "G" and "M" code programming.
  • Can edit CNC programs when necessary.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and have a strong understanding of dimensions and tolerances.
  • Able to use a CMM to check your part.
  • Complete 1st article of inspection.
  • Perform routine maintenance on your machine and keep your area clean and organized.
  • 3 plus years of experience as a CNC Machine Set-Up Operator.
  • Graduating from a Trade School is an added bonus, but years of experience in this trade is also honorable.
  • Team Player with a great attitude that can work with colleagues with collaborating, training, and troubleshooting when machine situations arise. We are a small company that strives for a pleasant work environment for all.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and background check.

This position's pay is highly regarded to the level of experience that they bring to Baur Machining. We do not want to put an hourly rate together as this will be negotiated based on your experience. Please let us know your salary requirements when applying. Baur offers competitive pay with available overtime. Our hard-working, employees typically work 48 hrs/week, but we realize not everyone is looking for overtime. Baur offers Paid holidays and PTO.
