Job description

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for an assembly worker in the molded foam department on 2nd shift [2:00pm - 10:00pm] at our Elkhart, Indiana foam manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for preparing molds for molding production, trims flash off molded parts coming out of mold, and places part on overhead conveyor. The hourly pay rate for this position is $21.97 to $22.79 per hour. There is an additional $2.00 per hour shift premium for working 2nd shift hours.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a normal production environment with interaction and communication with fellow employees, operator/lead person and area supervisor. This position may also involve performing other positions in department. 

Additional Responsibilities of the Molding Operator will include:

  • Carefully remove parts from the mold
  • Place HR parts on the conveyor
  • Place all Visco parts on the Monorail pans
  • Notify management of any problems (defects) seen with the parts
  • Clean excess flash and any foam that is sticking to the tools (molds)
  • Ability to pack pillows and other production products into bags with proper stock label per customer specification.
  • Willingness work on Value or Order within the department

Skills/ Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree required.
  • Entry Level with 6 months of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace.
  • Basic math and have basic computer knowledge.
  • Safely and efficiently operator a forklift.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 25 pounds.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to follow directions well and work with co-workers in a team environment.
  • Will be required to work overtime during production upticks.
  • Must be able to stand for and 8 - 10 hour production shift.
