How much do entry level architect jobs pay per year?
What is the difference between Entry Level Architect vs Junior Architect?
| Aspect | Entry Level Architect | Junior Architect |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Bachelor's degree in architecture, internship experience | Bachelor's degree, internship or similar experience |
| Work Environment | Design firms, architecture studios, construction sites | Design teams, project sites, architectural firms |
| Responsibilities | Assist in design, drafting, research, basic project tasks | Support senior architects, prepare drawings, coordinate projects |
Both roles typically require a bachelor's degree in architecture and internship experience. Entry Level Architects often handle initial design tasks and research, while Junior Architects support senior staff with drafting and project coordination. The titles are used interchangeably in some firms, but 'Entry Level Architect' emphasizes a formal entry point into the profession, whereas 'Junior Architect' may imply a slightly lower or more support-focused role.
What does an entry level architect do?
As an entry-level architect, your job is to help create conceptual designs for each project at your firm. In this role, you may help design a landscape, create structures that meet the commercial or residential needs of the client, or prepare architectural assessments. Entry-level architects frequently produce design drawings, use physical and digital art to convey ideas, and receive mentoring from senior-level architects. Many companies use this position as a form of additional training, so learning and developing your skills may be among your most important tasks. You also support senior architects, ensure all projects adhere to the company's standards of practice, and help answer questions for clients.

We believe the secret to our success is our talented team and our culture of mutual respect and cooperation.
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Naval Architect ready to apply practical engineering skills to design new vessels, develop modifications to improve existing vessels, navigate an increasingly complex regulatory framework, and help clients solve unique problems in marine environments.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Are passionate about the maritime industry.
- Thrive in a culture of collaboration, innovation, and integrity.
- Embrace a philosophy of client service by solving real-world problems clients face in the maritime industry, supporting their best interests and building lasting partnerships through reliable service and dependable solutions.
- Are motivated to identify and pursue internal and external professional growth opportunities, including areas outside their specific discipline.
- Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and graphical communication.
Responsibilities:
- Apply specific technical knowledge of hydrostatics, stability, and structural analyses.
- Understand and apply knowledge of the maritime regulatory guidance, field work (shipchecking and shipboard systems performance surveys), shipyard practices, and contract specifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent experience with a background in marine structures, hydrostatics, and hydrodynamics.
- Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Rhino3D, GHS, Python, and Microsoft Office software packages.
- Excellent communication skills. Communication is a highly valuable skill at Glosten, as we frequently collaborate in inter-disciplinary teams and must convey complex ideas clearly and concisely to clients and other project stakeholders.
- Strong technical writing, teamwork abilities, time management, and problem solving skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. Due to project restrictions, Glosten will only consider applicants with unrestricted access to work in the United States or those eligible for TN visas.
- Some travel and fieldwork are required. Some project assignments may require a valid driver's license, TWIC card, and/or current passport.
- This position is based in one of our office locations (Seattle, WA; Bellingham, WA; or Providence, RI).
Glosten offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical/dental coverage, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, bonus and profit-sharing plans, and a 401(k) plan.
