Our exceptional team, powertrain agnostic product portfolio, vertical integration, global footprint and customer proximity make us a trusted partner to all the world's leading OEMs. Job Summary:Tool Makers at our Windsor Mold facility specializing in Injection Molding play a critical role in the manufacturing process of automotive parts by designing, fabricating, and maintaining injection molds to produce high-quality components efficiently and cost-effectively. This individual will have expertise in mold design, machining, process optimization, and quality control. Job Responsibilities:Design and develop injection molds used for manufacturing automotive parts, components, and assemblies. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models to create mold designs that meet product requirements, dimensional tolerances, and quality standards. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 3D models, tooling layouts, and detailed drawings of injection molds.Fabricate injection molds using various machining processes, such as milling, turning, grinding, and electrical discharge machining (EDM). Select appropriate materials, tooling, and machining techniques to produce molds with precise dimensions, surface finishes, and functional features. Monitor machining operations, inspect workpieces for accuracy, and adjust as needed to ensure conformance to design specifications.Tool Makers use a variety of machining processes, such as milling, turning, grinding, and electrical discharge machining (EDM), to fabricate injection molds. They may operate CNC (computer numerical control) machines, manual machine tools, and other equipment to produce molds with precise dimensions and complex geometries.Injection molds require tight tolerances and intricate features to produce high-quality automotive parts. Tool Makers must demonstrate precision and attention to detail in their work to ensure that molds meet design specifications and produce parts with consistent dimensions and quality. Perform preventive maintenance tasks and routine inspections on injection molds to ensure proper functioning and longevity. Identify and address wear, damage, or degradation of mold components through repair, refurbishment, or replacement. Troubleshoot issues related to mold performance, such as flashing, sink marks, or part defects, and implement corrective actions to optimize mold operation.Collaborate with process engineers and production personnel to optimize injection molding processes for improved efficiency, productivity, and part quality. Conduct mold trials, process validation runs, and parameter optimization studies to optimize cycle times, minimize scrap rates, and ensure consistent part dimensions. Analyze process data, including temperature profiles, pressure curves, and fill patterns, to identify opportunities for process improvements and troubleshooting. Job Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent entry level experience where candidates may start in entry-level positions and gradually acquire the skills and experience needed to transition into Tool Maker positions. Completion of an Apprenticeship Program that provides comprehensive training and hands-on experience in tool making, mold making, and injection molding processes.Candidates should have experience or familiarity with injection molding processes, mold fabrication techniques, and mold maintenance procedures. Experience in mold making, mold repair, or CNC machining is highly beneficial.
