Job description

Reagent Material Handler

The Reagent Material Handler will coordinate closely with all Reagent manufacturing departments, including Controls Filling, Chemical Filling, Test Lab, Formulation, and Packaging. This role requires regular interaction with Supervisors, Group Leaders, and Team Leaders to determine daily component needs. The Reagent Material Handler is also responsible for supporting all Reagent manufacturing operations, including but not limited to the management of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), retains, and waste.

Responsibilities:

  • To receive raw materials for the Reagents Manufacturing Department and stage into assigned warehouse locations.
  • Manage all components supplied to various Reagent Departments using the First in First Out (FIFO) methodology and delivering raw material and WIP material per transfer order request, as well as returning unused components to the assigned warehouse location.
  • Perform cycle counting of Reagent components for reconciliation purposes and to maintain accurate inventory in Reagents.
  • Housekeeping and organization of the Reagents WIP warehouse, retain cage, fridges, Filling and Controls staging areas.

Transfer of full waste drums from the Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAA) to the Main Accumulation Area (MAA).

Experience Requirements:

  • 2 - 4 years' material handling experience is required.
  • 2 - 4 years' experience driving a forklift is required.
  • Ability to operate power equipment such as stacker and stand-up reach forklift.
  • Ability to operate a manual pallet jack.
  • Perform basic math and counting with accuracy.
  • Read and write English and follow both written/verbal instructions.
  • Entry-level knowledge of Quality System Regulations (QSR).
  • Entry-level knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Entry-level knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Must be able to perform warehouse inventory cycle counting.
  • Must be able to work individually.
  • Dependable, willing to learn, adapt to change and have a positive attitude.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform tasks that may involve extended periods of standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, turning, climbing steps and carrying up to 40 pounds numerous times/hours a day.
  • Require repetitive use of arms/wrist/hands while setting up/working with equipment/raw material throughout the day.
  • Will require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and may include, but not limited to, safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, bouffant, gloves, hearing protection, face shield, nuisance mask, bump cap.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination and visual acuity.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
