Job description

The Alpha M2 Technician is responsible for connecting, replacing, and terminating strings of batteries including all TPPL and solutions. Reporting to the Regional Transport and Technical Service Manager, the Alpha M2 Technician is an entry level position.

Responsibilities

  • Connecting all strings of batteries, per the design solution for each site. This includes all TPPL and solutions and can include up to 6 – 3 battery strings
  • For pole mount power supply locations, the conduit will be installed to the base of the pole with a sweep capped at the bottom of the pole. A PVC conduit will need to be ran up the pole and to the power supply cabinet as part of the M2 install and strapped to the pole with conduit straps and using an LB PVC connection enter the power supply cabinet.
  • Replace the current power supply module with a new Alpha XM3.1 module. *Connect the battery cable from the PN-4(s) to the power supply. *Configure the new XM 3.1 and gather from the old power supply as required

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • General labor experience
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to walk for multiple hours at a time.
  • Some out-of-town travel and overnight travel may be required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands

  • This job operates in an outdoor and indoor work environment and in extreme weather conditions.
  • This role routinely travels to customer sites as needed and incumbent will be driving a company vehicle.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • This position is considered medium work.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit at a computer workstation and work for prolonged periods; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs scaffolding, may be in a bucket truck driving and using, ramps, poles and the like using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion; stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist; kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees; crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine; crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet; and grasping, applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

  • Travel to other markets as needed.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, be able to drive and be insurable under the company insurance policy.
  • May drive a bucket truck on occasion so therefore will need to obtain a DOT Physical Card (company paid)
