Were looking for a seasoned Assistant Project Manager with a strong background in electrical construction or civil construction (public works related) to join our team. Projects range in size from $1M to $20M and demand sharp attention to detail, multitasking, and leadership.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support Project Managers in delivering projects from pre-construction through close-out, helping ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Assist in maintaining strong relationships with General Contractors, Owners, Subcontractors, Vendors, and trade partners.
  • Work closely with field Foremen and Superintendents to stay aligned with daily operations, production, and project needs.
  • Track project installation progress for billing purposes, including quantities, percent complete, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in preparation of pay applications, change orders, and cost tracking reports.
  • Maintain and update Excel-based tracking logs for labor, equipment, and material costs.
  • Support procurement efforts including purchase orders, material tracking, and subcontract coordination.
  • Review plans and specifications to assist in identifying scope requirements, potential conflicts, and project risks.
  • Coordinate project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, and close-out packages.
  • Participate in jobsite visits and meetings to support field operations and ensure alignment between office and field.

Qualifications & Skills Requirements:

  • 25 years of experience in Caltrans electrical, heavy civil, or public works construction (assistant PM, project engineer, or similar role preferred).
  • College degree in related field preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate with both field and office personnel.
  • Working knowledge of public works construction processes, including scheduling, billing, and documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for tracking costs, quantities, and project progress.
  • Familiar with construction drawings, specifications, and basic electrical systems (traffic signals, street lighting, or similar preferred).
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with field Foremen and Superintendents and understand jobsite workflow.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, HCSS, Foundation, or similar construction software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with agencies such as Caltrans, PG&E, SMUD, or other public entities is preferred.
  • Valid drivers license with ability to travel to job sites.
