The Administrative Assistant performs administrative and business-related duties in support of a department, drafts correspondences and writes reports, assigns work, and trains entry-level clerical staff. Responds to requests for department-related information from the public or other County departments.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponds to requests for department-related information from the public or other County departments.Maintains records pertaining to daily transactions and business details of the department such as time records, budget expenditures, preparation of personnel actions, etc.Orders supplies and equipment.Drafts responses to correspondence; researches and writes periodic and special interest reports reflecting the operation and functions of the department.Provides typing/word processing assistance for the department; answers telephone, transfers calls, and takes messages when necessary.Attends meetings as a representative of the department as assigned.Responsible for maintenance of department files.*The above information is intended to outline the general nature and scope of the duties required for this position.
