Job description

The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, is seeking an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon to join its expanding academic team in support of the departments mission to deliver the highest quality, patient-centered care while fulfilling teaching, research, and academic responsibilities at the regions quaternary referral center.

The department is nationally recognized and ranked among the Top 50 Orthopedic Programs in the United States by U.S. News & World Report for 20252026. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing Surgical Spine service line that manages a high-volume, diverse case mix ranging from routine spinal conditions to highly complex deformity, trauma, and revision cases.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in providing comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for patients with spinal disorders, utilizing evidence-based practices and advanced technologies. In addition to clinical excellence, the physician will be expected to actively participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows, and to engage in scholarly activity, clinical research, and quality improvement initiatives aligned with the academic mission of the institution.

Candidates with an interest in optimizing site-of-service surgical planning, improving access to care, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams are strongly preferred. This position offers a robust academic environment, strong institutional support, and the opportunity to advance innovation and excellence in spine care at a nationally recognized academic medical center.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD/DO  
  • Board-Certified/Board-Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Completed Fellowship in Spine Surgery
  • Licensed in Missouri and Kansas
