Position Overview

Protech Medical is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist with experience as an AAC Consultant to join our team. This role is responsible for driving referrals, evaluations, and placements of Speech Generating Devices (SGDs) through direct engagement with referral sources, patients, and interdisciplinary care teams.
This is a highly field-driven position, requiring 5 days per week in the field calling on referral sources, conducting evaluations, and supporting patient care. Administrative responsibilities, including WIP (Work-in-Progress) management, documentation, and follow-up, are expected to be completed during early mornings, late afternoons, or as needed to maintain workflow efficiency.________________________________________
Compensation
•    Base Salary: $70,000 annually 
•    Commission: Uncapped earning potential based on units placed
•    Top Earners: Top performers in this role have earned $150,000+ in total annual compensation

  1. Territory
    • This role covers the East Tennessee with a strong focus on building referral network. The territory includes a diverse mix of referral sources such as:
      •    Hospital-based rehabilitation centers
      •    Outpatient therapy clinics
      •    School systems
      •    Specialty physician practices
      •    Community-based healthcare providers
      Candidates should be based within the territory and comfortable with daily local travel and in-field engagement.

      Key Responsibilities
      Territory & Field Activity
      •    Maintain a full-time field presence (5 days per week) within assigned territory
      •    Conduct daily in-person visits with referral sources and patients
      •    No designated office day; administrative work is to be managed around field responsibilities

      Sales & Clinical Responsibilities
      •    Conduct AAC evaluations and recommend appropriate speech-generating devices
      •    Perform product demonstrations, in-services, and clinical education
      •    Coordinate delivery, setup, and training of devices
      •    Follow up with patients and caregivers to ensure successful use of equipment
      •    Promote products and services through ongoing, in-person engagement

      Pipeline & WIP Management
      •    Own and manage all Work-In-Progress (WIP) cases from referral through delivery
      •    Ensure timely progression of:
      o    Referrals → Evaluations → Orders → Delivery
      •    Complete all required documentation, reporting, and follow-ups promptly
      •    Maintain accurate records in CRM and company systems (Brightree/SharePoint)
      •    Proactively resolve any delays or barriers in the process

      Referral Development & Account Management
      •    Build and maintain strong relationships with all referral sources
      •    Maintain consistent contact cadence (at minimum monthly in-person visits)
      •    Call points include, but are not limited to:
      o    Speech Therapy Clinics
      o    School Systems
      o    Rehabilitation Facilities and Hospitals
      o    Home Health Agencies
      o    Private Duty Nursing Agencies
      o    University SLP Programs
      o    Advocacy Groups and Associations
      •    Be available and responsive to referral sources as needed

    • Productivity Expectations
      •    Maintain 25–30 in-person visits per week
      •    Meet or exceed all monthly and quarterly sales goals
      •    Maintain a steady and proactive pipeline of new referrals

Job purpose

The primary function is to achieve Goals for Sales and Placements of Speech Generating Devices through Marketing, In-Services, Demonstrations, and Evaluations with Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) and other Health Care professionals, patients, and families while adhering to all company, accreditation, and HIPPAA rules and regulations.

General Expectations

  1. Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
  2. Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.  Comply with all current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care.
  3. Develop and maintain working knowledge of current Speech Therapy products, and other services offered by the organization and all applicable insurance guidelines for coverage and reimbursement.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Manage his/her territory to reach revenue and service goals set by company
  2. Maintain rapport with all referral sources, speech clinics and DME partners.
  3. Help with the processing of all orders in a timely manner with DME partners, speech clinics and MDs and help as needed
  4. Schedule and arrange delivery of devices in a timely manner as required.
  5. Assist with training of the DME partners to make sure they are knowledgeable with equipment and trained on delivery and setup
  6. Follow up with all patients delivered our product to make sure they understand the use of the product to enable them to give our organization a great reference
  7. Promote products and services to all referral sources in the community through ongoing and direct contact.  Responsible to call and follow upon all major referral sources on an ongoing basis in person and no later than a month from last contact.
  8. Call Points include, but are not limited to:
    • Speech Therapy Clinics
    • School Systems
    • Rehabilitation Facilities and Hospitals
    • Home Health Care agencies
    • Private Duty Nursing agencies
    • SLP Programs (Universities)
    • Advocacy Groups and Associations
  9. Responsible to be available to referral sources at any time
  10. Assist in training subsequent AAC Consultants as company grows
  11. Ability to report and work on all designated spreadsheets weekly to help maintain continuous flow of documentation and demonstrate referral management and partnerships and document in software systems as needed (Brightree/Sharepoint)
  12. Other duties as needed

Experience & Qualifications include:

  1. MS, CCC-SLP (Master of Speech, Certificate of Clinical Competency – Speech Language Pathologist) is strongly preferred SLP-A (Bachelor’s degree, Speech Language Pathologist – Assistant) will be considered

  3. Self-starter with strong work ethic and desire to succeed and build profitable territory
  4. Clinical experience combined with sales aptitude are equally required in this position
  5. Ability to work independently
  6. Outstanding Communication and presentation skills – both written and oral
  7. Ability to present ideas and product attributes to audiences ranging from one on one to large groups
  8. Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  9. Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel as needed, up to 75%
  10. Must carry personal liability insurance with a minimum limit of 100,000
  11. Courteous Customer Service (internally and externally)
  12. System Proficiency (Microsoft Suite, 10-key skills, AAC Software's, and other needed software applications)
  13. Excellent computer skills
  14. Knowledge with Apple and Microsoft products a plus.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this position, employee may be required to stand for extended periods of time and must talk and hear. Occasional stooping, bending, twisting and crouching may be required.  The employee sits, walks, kneels and reaches with hands and arms.  May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
