Job description

As a Project Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely entry and reporting of financial data in the company's systems. This includes managing accounts receivable, subcontractor records, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable, and month-end reporting. Effective communication and collaboration with management and project teams will be essential to maintain the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial data.
This is an onsite position supporting a local project in Edmonton. Join our dedicated team and contribute to the success of our Financial Operations team in Edmonton, AB!

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supports the project management team in completing monthly cost and profitability reporting, including monthly accrual entry
  • Understands contract requirements for billing
  • Coordinates the accounts receivable functions including the timely and accurate submittal of Billing and invoicing
  • Ensures timesheets are collected and processed timely and accurately
  • Review Accounts Payable to ensure accurate cost coding and compliance to purchase order
  • Tracks subcontractor commitments and enters progress payments including payment to the subcontractor; ensures compliance to contractual terms
  • Supports equipment and fixed asset cost tracking, entry, and reconciliation.
  • Prepares and enters Journal Entries into financial ERP system (JD Edwards)
  • Preparation and reconciliation of daily/weekly LEMs

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of related project accounting experience within the Construction industry
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and financial applications including large ERP systems (JD Edwards experience would be an asset)
  • A strong skill set within Excel (performing functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP)
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, able to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and organization skills

Work Conditions:

  • This a site position, supporting the operations team Monday-Friday
