This position will operate on a remote basis.

Our Valnet tech brands (including Pocket-lint, MakeUseOf, Android Police, XDA, and How-To Geek) represents leading authorities in consumer tech, digital entertainment, and smart lifestyle media—reaching tens of millions of readers with authoritative features, deep-dive guides, and entertainment recommendations.

As worldwide leaders in the digital publishing space, our tech publications are expanding their coverage and we are currently looking for a Entertainment Features Writer to join our team on a 1099 freelance basis. 

Your Responsibilities
  • Pitch and write original features, curated watchlists, franchise rankings, plot explainers, and deep-dive analysis on major movies, TV shows, and streaming platforms (Netflix, Max, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV+).
  • Pitch unique, reader-obsessed feature topics regularly (e.g., streaming hidden gems, franchise watch orders, character breakdowns, platform feature deep dives).
  • Input work into our in-house CMS, as well as find and format images, according to our guidelines.
  • Stay ahead of upcoming release slates, streaming ecosystem updates, and pop-culture trends to pitch timely feature angles.
  • Coordinate with editorial teams across brands for assignments, feedback, and content optimization.
  • Follow general Editorial Guidelines while producing unique and high-quality feature content.

Experience and Skills
  • Relevant experience in writing and editing entertainment features, TV/movie listicles, or pop culture feature content in the English language.

  • Deep knowledge of the current streaming landscape (Netflix, Max, Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video, Apple TV+) and major media franchises.
  • Ability to think analytically and turn complex plots, lore, or streaming trends into clear, readable, and exciting articles.
  • Proficiency with SEO practices for feature writing and experience using a web-based CMS.
  • A self-starter attitude with a passion for staying ahead of the entertainment curve.
