Role Overview
The Automation Technician II supports equipment installation, startup, and long-term reliability within the trading card manufacturing environment, while also supporting in-house automation for both legacy machinery and new processes. This role works closely with the Sr Project Management Manager and Automation Manager, as well as Safety, Facilities, Maintenance, Electricians, and equipment vendors to ensure installations are executed correctly and automation systems are supported from day one. The ideal candidate brings strong technical capability, hands-on problem-solving skills, and a collaborative approach focused on safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support equipment installations by providing detailed technical information and machine requirements
  • Assist during equipment installation by delivering technical support alongside Maintenance and Electricians to ensure installations meet operational and safety standards
  • Develop and review delivery paths and rigging plans to support safe and efficient equipment movement
  • Coordinate and assist with defining maintenance needs and preventive maintenance requirements for new equipment
  • Support troubleshooting and optimization during installation, startup, and early production phases
  • Work closely with Electricians to verify electrical connections, controls integration, and overall installation quality
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and vendors to resolve installation and equipment-related issues
  • Support in-house automation initiatives, including maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting existing automation systems
  • Partner closely with the Maintenance team to support automation-related issues and ongoing improvements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on equipment reliability, automation performance, and system stability

Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, automation, mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience supporting industrial equipment installation and startup in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic controls systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation
  • Experience working in plant or production-based environments

Desirable Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience supporting robotics systems and automated equipment
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with retrofitting or upgrading legacy machinery
  • Experience working closely with Electricians and controls teams during equipment installations
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance planning for automated equipment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross functionally across Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, Facilities, and Project teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
  • Comfort working in fast-paced manufacturing environments with evolving priorities
