ABOUT THE POSITION

The Sr.Tax Manager at Level Group balances high-level technical mastery with dynamic team leadership. In this role, you will oversee comprehensive corporate and individual tax strategies for high-earning entertainment clients, manage our end-to-end filing pipeline, and mentor internal teams to elevate the firm's operational excellence.

Lead & Oversee Tax Strategy

  • Lead and oversee comprehensive tax strategy for all corporate and individual clients.
  • Provide strategic tax guidance to Account Managers and develop their tax filing knowledge.
  • Offer expert advice on complex tax matters for high-earning individuals and entertainment entities.
  • Ensure accurate, proactive, and timely tax compliance for all clients across the firm's portfolio.

Oversee Corporate & Individual Tax Filings

  • Manage the end-to-end tax filing process for both corporate entities and individual clients.
  • Review and audit complex financial statements to ensure absolute correctness.
  • Monitor and track the live status of tax preparation and filings to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Serve as the primary, authoritative liaison between external CPA partners and internal teams.

Manage Tax Notice Resolution & Compliance Operations

  • Analyze received tax notices and execute swift, appropriate actions for timely and effective resolutions.
  • Communicate directly with federal, state, and local tax authorities via written correspondence or phone.
  • Review and file critical client compliance documents, including 1099 and 1042-S forms.

Drive Departmental Deliverables & Operational Excellence

  • Partner closely with fellow Tax Managers to meet overarching Tax Department deliverables and operational excellence goals.
  • Ensure the highest level of quality assurance across all departmental work and output.
  • Administrate annual tax training programs for the broader firm.
  • Communicate key tax deadlines, regulatory updates, and shifts in policy or internal procedures.

Manage Team Performance & Development

  • Identify specific training needs and procure resources for individual and team professional development.
  • Leverage unique team members' strengths and strategically provide opportunities for career growth.
  • Deliver consistent, constructive feedback and prepare comprehensive annual performance evaluations.

Project Management & Continuous Process Improvement

  • Manage specialized projects and handle ad hoc needs as required by incoming new business or shifting regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify and implement innovative workflow solutions to increase efficiency.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Tax Law, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Certifications: Active CPA license is strictly required.

EXPERIENCE & LEADERSHIP

  • Work Experience: Minimum of 4 years' professional work experience in public accounting or business management.
  • Tax Preparation Depth: Extensive experience preparing tax returns for individuals, alongside strong experience working with corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Specialized Track Record: Proven background in tax strategy and tax notice resolution is highly preferred.
  • Management Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a dedicated management role, with a proven record of supervising, motivating, inspiring, and training staff to foster a positive work environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong Communication: Ability to seamlessly facilitate internal and external communication, lead impact meetings, and provide clear updates to teams and senior leadership on key metrics and operational progress.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep background in financial oversight, strategic tax planning, auditing, and small business management.
  • Form Expertise: Exceptional, proven skills reviewing Form 1040 and Form 1040-NR (non-resident alien), paired with strong professional familiarity with Forms 1120, 1120-S, and 1065.
  • Technical Proficiency: Professional familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, project management tools, Office 365, and relevant modern tech suites.
  • Process Innovation: Ability to confidently identify, select, and implement technology solutions to continuously streamline workflows and scale efficiency.
