Job description

General Manager
Harrison's Downtown | Diagonal Hospitality Group | Indianapolis, IN
Ready to lead the floor, the kitchen, and the culture at one of Indianapolis' newest and most talked-about restaurants?
Harrison's Downtown is looking for a General Manager to take the reins of daily operations in our beautiful restaurant near Mass Ave and the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site. Between the full bar, the spacious outdoor patio, and our one-of-a-kind private dining room tucked inside the former bank vault, this isn't your average restaurant - and it deserves a GM to match. If you love building a team, obsessing over guest experience, and having real ownership over how a business runs day to day, we'd love to talk.
Why This Role
As General Manager, you'll be the driving force behind Harrison's day-to-day success - partnering closely with ownership, leading a hands-on team, and shaping everything from the menu experience to the atmosphere on the patio. This is a role for someone who wants more than a job: a chance to build something, grow with the business, and see the direct impact of great leadership on a growing restaurant group.
What You'll Do
  • Oversee daily operations across the kitchen, bar, and front-of-house, including scheduling, ordering, and shift management for a five-day, ~50-hour work week.
  • Maintain food quality, drink quality, service speed, and overall guest experience standards.
  • Lead the team: hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance evaluations, documentation, and day-to-day accountability.
  • Manage costs and inventory pars while identifying opportunities to grow sales, guest counts, and profitability.
  • Keep the space guest-ready - cleanliness, organization, and upkeep throughout the building and patio.
  • Shape the atmosphere: music, lighting, temperature, and entertainment that fit the Harrison's vibe.
  • Build strong vendor relationships and stay on top of product ordering.
  • Meet weekly with ownership to align on priorities and share ideas for improving the business.
  • Support social media strategy and special event planning for Harrison's.
  • Lead by example with a hands-on, in-the-weeds approach to daily service.

What We're Looking For
  • A natural leader who thrives on building and developing a team.
  • Someone detail-oriented who can juggle kitchen, bar, and front-of-house priorities at once.
  • A hospitality mindset - genuinely invested in the guest experience, not just the checklist.
  • A steady, hands-on operator who's comfortable being the one who jumps in when it counts.
  • Someone who takes ownership: proactive, accountable, and always looking for ways to improve.
  • Prior experience managing full-service restaurant or bar operations.

About Harrison's
Harrison's Restaurant and Bar is Indianapolis' newest locally grown restaurant, featuring casual American cuisine in a renovated downtown bank building. Guest favorites include our signature cocktails, fresh salads, pastas, and our pork chop and filet mignon. Harrison's is part of Diagonal Hospitality Group.
Ready to Lead the Way?
If this sounds like the kind of role where you can make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you. What would you bring to the Harrison's team?
