The Position:
Veracyte is seeking an Executive Director, Enterprise Program Management Office (PMO) to play a central role in helping us fulfill our mission to transform cancer care with breakthrough molecular diagnostics and AI insights for patients and providers worldwide, leveraging our whole transcriptome and whole genome multi-omics platform. Reporting directly to the Chief Development and Technology Officer, this leader will help accelerate Veracyte's growth, technical capabilities, and expanding product offerings in key cancer indications by strengthening how we advance strategic initiatives from concept through feasibility, development, and launch. This is a highly visible, high-impact role for a collaborative and trusted leader who can build a next-generation Product Development Process (PDP) that brings rigor, speed, accountability, and clear decision-making to our most important work while reflecting Veracyte's values of innovation, collaboration, and making it happen.
This position is a hybrid role based out of our San Diego office.
What You'll Do:
  • Transform Veracyte's Product Development Process (PDP) into a scalable operating model for advancing initiatives from concept through launch.
  • Lead enterprise portfolio governance, including intake, prioritization, stage gates, sequencing, escalations, and executive trade-off decisions.
  • Facilitate monthly executive updates that create shared visibility, thoughtful decisions, and timely resolution of risks, dependencies, and blockers.
  • Lead quarterly capacity planning to align priorities, resources, timelines, and trade-offs.
  • Own annual program intake process and portfolio alignment accounting for budget, capacity, business value, and strategic fit.
  • Standardize program cadence, templates, dashboards, decision records, timelines, risk tracking, and action management.
  • Strengthen timeline reliability, milestone integrity, critical-path focus, and launch excellence
  • Define portfolio KPIs for velocity, operational readiness, resource use, and value realization
  • Serve as a trusted partner across Product, R&D, Operations, Bioinformatics, Software, Finance, Quality, Regulatory, Legal, Commercial, and Market Access.
  • Prepare clear executive and Board communications, including decision briefs, portfolio updates, risk summaries, and program investment landscape.
  • Build and lead a high-performing PMO team including hiring, career development, best practices, and a clear vision for the function.
Who You Are:
  • Executive-level PMO, product portfolio management (PPM), or product governance leadership in complex, regulated environments.
  • Deep expertise in product development, stage-gate governance, portfolio prioritization, resource planning, risk management, and launch readiness.
  • Proven ability to transform fragmented practices into standardized, scalable, data-driven execution systems.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to connect investment, resources, capacity, trade-offs, and ROI.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills for senior leadership and development teams alike
  • Independent judgment and influence to surface risks, resolve blockers, clarify decisions, and help teams move forward.
  • Strategic thinker who can design operating models while diving into details and solving problems when execution requires it.
  • Passion for building a PMO center of excellence through coaching, upskilling, practical standards, and shared best practices.
  • Urgency balanced with quality, collaboration, and patient impact, using agile product development methods to improve speed and transparency.
  • A personable leadership style grounded in clarity, coaching, accountability, humility, and trust.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 13+ years in program management, portfolio management, product development, or related leadership roles, including 8+ years leading teams or enterprise programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, engineering, business, or related field required; advanced degree, MBA, or program/portfolio certification preferred.
  • Experience in diagnostics, life sciences, medtech, biotech, pharmaceutical, or other regulated product environments.
  • Balancing clinical, regulatory, quality, laboratory, tech, and commercial launch dependencies.
  • Experience integrating PDP, quality management system (QMS), software development lifecycle (SDLC), and portfolio-management tools.
  • Ability to build governance mechanisms, dashboards, and cadences that improve transparency and decision quality.
  • Experience with portfolio analytics, scenario planning, capacity modeling, and value-based prioritization.
  • Experience implementing enterprise project tools, dashboards, and reporting systems as a reliable source of truth.
