Job description

The Senior Application Portfolio Manager is responsible for ensuring the overall health, performance, and strategic alignment of the digital delivery program of technology portfolios and products under the Bentley Portfolio of products. This role oversees roadmap planning, initiative development, business reviews, and cross-functional coordination with business units, vendors, and corporate technology teams.

The Bentley Application Portfolio Manager will also coordinate release management lifecycle, manage application integration issues between products/vendors, review product usage metrics, conduct new application research, assess portfolio health, ensure entitlement accuracy, facilitate vendor‑led business reviews, and maintain communication with key stakeholders.

This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive operational excellence across product administration, governance, and user experience functions.

The position reports to the Digital Solutions Support Team Manager and works closely with several Technology Leaders, Product Owners, and other stakeholders within the Portfolio of Products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish, negotiate and maintain business partnership with the vendor team to support major stakeholders and users.
  • Coordinate portfolio roadmaps, quarterly business reviews, and initiative tracking.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for service providers and facilitate stakeholder communications.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams from corporate technology, user communities, and vendor partners.
  • Establish consistent processes for annual planning, usage data tracking, portfolio assessments, and reporting.
  • Provide oversight for product administration functions, including licensing, procurement, security, and release management.
  • Ensure governance standards, best practices, and compliance requirements are met across the portfolio.
  • Support product nurturing activities such as training, integration, technical support, automation, and user experience improvements.
  • Develop KPIs, reporting measures, and performance dashboards for portfolio monitoring.
  • Drive cross‑functional collaboration to enhance technology portfolio performance and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Application Manager and relevant working knowledge of the Bentley Suite of products.
  • Strong understanding of application lifecycle management, governance, software portfolio management, and IT operational processes.
  • Experience collaborating with technical solution administrators, business stakeholders, and end users to support enterprise application adoption and optimization.
  • Awareness of tools used for portfolio tracking, reporting, investment planning, and technology roadmapping.
  • Experience working with AEC enterprise platforms such as Bentley, Autodesk, Esri, Trimble products, or similar technology portfolios.
  • Background in process standardization, business analysis, enterprise architecture, or technology governance.
  • Experience with data analytics, business intelligence, automation tools, and AI‑enabled capabilities.
  • Vendor management experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years IT experience, including management of multiple concurrent projects, a minimum of 5 years experience in managing and developing staff, with direct reporting relationships.
  • Experience in working with business users to establish priorities and manage expectations.
  • Excellent client service, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and capability to perform tasks in a dynamic environment working under tight delivery schedules.
  • Engineering and/or Construction background a plus.
