Our organization is in search of a committed Registered Nurse to join the Operating Room team at the Morris Cancer Center. The OR RN plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive care to patients throughout the perioperative journey. Responsibilities include ensuring patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures, preparing the operating room, managing surgical instruments, and collaborating closely with the surgical team. The OR RN will be part of a multidisciplinary team, adhering to the highest standards of patient safety, infection control, and professional ethics.

• Scrubbing in and circulating across various OR specialties, including Robotics, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Transplant, Neurology, Thoracic, Trauma, Cardiac, Vascular, ENT/Head and Neck, GYN, Urology, and Bariatrics.
• Engaging in complex surgeries utilizing cutting-edge technology in our advanced surgical suites.
• Acting as a vital member of the perioperative team and advocating for patients receiving anesthesia and/or sedation.
• Collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team to uphold professional nursing standards in the perioperative environment.
• Participating in shared clinical decision-making processes.

Required:

• ASN or Nursing Diploma.
• Active RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree, along with prior operating room experience or completion of a perioperative 101 course.

Preferred:

• BSN or completion within 5 years of hire.
• CNOR - Certified Perioperative Nurse certification.

• BLS and ACLS certification.
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License.

Evening shift, 40 hours per week, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Availability for weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as assigned.

The Registered Nurse delivers care within the healthcare system, adhering to the scope defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, while maintaining awareness of ethical practice as outlined by the ANA code of ethics. Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring safety in practice and incorporating evidence-based principles.
• Reporting safety concerns, such as hazardous conditions and medical errors.
• Understanding the patient population served.
• Supervising and directing task delegation among team members and collaborating with other care providers.
• Setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes.
• Utilizing the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care and tailoring the care plan to meet individual patient needs.
