Position Overview

Washington, DC area architecture and planning firm that focuses on multifamily residential, mixed-use developments, urban design, and master planning is looking for a Senior Designer to join their growing team. In this role, the Senior Designer will be responsible for generating new concepts and fresh ideas on a variety of project types to meet client requirements. Consult with engineers and computer graphics artists in developing and presenting conceptual design concepts. Function as a conduit between conceptual design process and architectural implementation. Oversee the Group’s organizational staff development and administer company policies and programs.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates leadership skills with ability and a willingness to face challenges, solve problems, and motivate others, while maintaining effective relationships with customers by meeting or exceeding their requirements and expectations.

  • Mentor and develop staff in professional demeanor, technical competence, team-building, process improvements and client relations.

  • Assist Design Director in fostering high morale and production efficiency through close contact with all personnel. Hold staff meetings on an on-going basis.

  • Coach design employees a minimum of two hours per day, answer questions, recommend resources and guide the design process.

  • Ensure clear information exchange procedures that affect overall project quality and performance.

  • Monitor Designers’ and Illustrators’’ work to assure top-level performance and efficiency.

  • Assist Design Director in establishing format, drawing assignments, deliverables and schedules.

  • Responsible for the supervision of the Design team.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS), preferably in Architecture, or related field

  • Architectural License: Preferred

  • Experience: 10+ year’s exp. in Multi-family projects is preferred

  • Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Enscape, Adobe Suite MS Office, Photoshop and/or InDesign a plus

  • Building Type: Residential/Mixed-Use/Retail
