Job description

Position Overview
Matthews is seeking a Research Analyst to work directly with and in support of our CEO, Kyle Matthews. This is a high-visibility role at the intersection of commercial real estate research, executive communications, and thought leadership. You will be the CEO and founder's day-to-day research partner arming him with the data, talking points, and content for media, speaking engagements, his newsletter , and social platforms.
This role is for someone who has a background in commercial real estate research who can operate with a high degree of independence, someone who can take a data release or a market question and turn it into a sharp point of view with minimal direction. Someone with demonstrated experience managing or contributing meaningfully to executive social media and newsletter content.
Working closely with the CEO and VP of Marketing, you will help shape Matthews' public research strategy and directly influence how the firm's leadership engages with the market.
This role is based on-site in our Nashville, TN office.
Duties & Responsibilities
Research & Data
  • Track key commercial real estate and macroeconomic data releases, identifying the trends, shifts, and implications most relevant to Matthews' clients and the broader market.
  • Translate market data, industry news, and competitor commentary into compelling stories, executive insights, and differentiated points of view.
  • Develop data-driven reports, market updates, and thought leadership that connect individual data points to the larger commercial real estate narrative.
  • Partner with the Research and Publications teams to source, validate, and package data for the CEO's use, while identifying original research angles and report concepts worth pursuing.

Newsletter & Social Media
  • Own the research, drafting, and editorial calendar for The Matthews Market Pulse newsletter end-to-end, keeping it timely, data-driven, and distinctly his voice.
  • Contribute and help grow social media presence (LinkedIn and X), turning research and market commentary into regular, engaging content.
  • Build data visualizations that make complex market data easy to digest for a broad audience.

Executive & Media Preparation
  • Develop webinar content from concept through delivery, including presentation structure, key messages, supporting data, speaker notes, and full scripts.
  • Write and refine scripts for social media videos, executive thought leadership, market commentary, and other short-form video content, ensuring the CEO's perspective is clear, credible, and consistent across channels.
  • Build briefing materials and presentations for speaking engagements, conferences, and internal meetings, covering property types, metros, and macroeconomic trends.
  • Prepare the CEO for media appearances, panels, and interviews (CNBC, FoxBusiness, Bloomberg Radio, trade press, and similar outlets) with sharp, current talking points, anticipating likely questions.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in commercial real estate research, market analysis, or a similar analytical/communications role.
  • Proven ability to work independently someone who can own a deliverable from data pull to finished product with minimal oversight.
  • Strong writer and editor able to turn dense data into a clear, compelling narrative under tight deadlines.
  • Solid working knowledge of CRE data sources and platforms (e.g., CoStar, Real Capital Analytics) and strong Excel-level data skills.
  • Strong understanding of CRE fundamentals across property types and fluency in the macroeconomic trends that move the market.
  • Comfortable working directly with a senior executive
