Job Summary
SuperbTech is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of water infrastructure projects. This position will support projects from design through construction, review engineering work, resolve technical issues, and provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
The ideal candidate will have a career substantially focused on water infrastructure, with direct experience designing water distribution systems, pipelines, reservoirs, storage facilities, pump stations, and booster stations. This role requires an engineer who understands how water systems operate and can independently make sound technical decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and review of water distribution systems, water mains, and transmission pipelines.
  • Perform and review pipeline sizing, routing, alignment, and related hydraulic considerations.
  • Support the design of reservoirs, water-storage facilities, pump stations, and booster-pump stations.
  • Evaluate pump selection and hydraulic requirements for water-system projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, calculations, specifications, construction drawings, and technical deliverables.
  • Support water-system improvements, operations and maintenance projects, and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.
  • Coordinate water infrastructure projects through design and construction.
  • Review calculations, plans, and technical work prepared by junior engineers.
  • Provide technical direction, mentorship, and engineering problem-solving support to junior staff.
  • Coordinate with consultants, water agencies, municipalities, utilities, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams.
  • Support permitting, constructability reviews, field investigations, and construction-related engineering activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, codes, specifications, and agency requirements.
  • Help establish engineering priorities, resolve technical roadblocks, and maintain project progress.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional civil engineering experience, with approximately 80% of experience focused on water infrastructure or water systems.
  • Demonstrated experience designing water distribution systems, water mains, and transmission pipelines.
  • Experience with pipeline sizing and alignment.
  • Experience with reservoirs and water-storage facilities.
  • Experience with pump stations, booster stations, pump selection, and hydraulic considerations.
  • Strong understanding of water-system operations and municipal or utility water infrastructure.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing engineering plans, calculations, specifications, and design documents.
  • Experience supporting water infrastructure projects through design and construction.
  • Experience with water-system improvement, O&M, and/or CIP projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate and resolve complex technical engineering issues.
  • Experience reviewing engineering work and providing technical direction to junior engineers.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with consultants, agencies, utilities, and project stakeholders.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

A seasoned EIT may be considered with substantial senior-level water infrastructure experience, demonstrated independent technical leadership, experience mentoring junior engineers, and active progression toward California PE licensure.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with a municipal water agency, water district, public or private water utility, or engineering consulting firm serving water agencies and municipalities.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with grading, utility layouts, site development, pipeline design, and plan preparation.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a seasoned civil engineer whose experience is predominantly focused on water infrastructure. They can speak in detail about projects involving pipelines, distribution systems, reservoirs, storage facilities, pumps, and booster stations, and have the technical judgment to review work, solve problems, mentor junior engineers, and keep projects moving from design through construction.
