About the Job:
Huntington Learning Center of San Ramon Valley is hiring a Reading and Writing Tutor to help elementary, middle, and high school students strengthen their reading, writing, grammar, and communication skills.
This is an excellent part-time, onsite opportunity for teachers, substitute teachers, retired educators, graduate students, and professionals with strong English, reading, or writing backgrounds who enjoy working with students.
 
Pay: $21–$26 per hour
Schedule: Approximately 10–15 hours per week
Location: Danville, CA — onsite
What You'll Do:
  • Work one-on-one and/or in small groups with students in elementary, middle, and high school.
  • Help students improve reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills.
  • Follow Huntington's established curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Explain concepts clearly and patiently while adapting your approach to individual students.
  • Encourage students and help them build confidence and measurable academic progress.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive learning environment.

You will not need to create your own curriculum. Huntington provides structured instructional materials so you can focus on teaching and helping students succeed.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong reading, writing, grammar, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain academic concepts clearly and patiently.
  • Comfortable working with children and teenagers.
  • Dependable, professional, and engaging personality.
  • Previous teaching, tutoring, education, or subject-matter experience is helpful but not required.
  • Availability for approximately 10–15 hours per week, primarily during weekday evenings and/or Saturdays.
  • Ability to work onsite at our Danville learning center.
