Job description

Tolunay-Wong Engineers, Inc. (TWE) is seeking a Senior Manager of Geotechnical Engineering -Corporate Strategy. This high-visiblity team sits within our Global Engineering group in Houston, TX and will be acting in direct support of the office of the Chief Operating Officer on new venture collaborations, strategic iniatives, and operational priorities. The successful candidate will have been a branch manager, a geotechnical lead, or have directly supervised a team of geotechnical engineers in previous roles.
This is a unique opportunity to influence high-impact business lines and technology-driven initiatives (e.g. form & train high performance teams and co-innovate with startups & academic partners) while working directly with senior leadership. The role sits at the intersection of technical excellence, strategic expansion, and venture development, supporting leadership in identifying, evaluating, and executing high-impact opportunties across emerging markets, affliated ventures and startups.
We will provide training and support necessary for career advancement with the objective of developing the candidate into further career advancement. You will also provide technical experience and mentorship to junior staff while leading multiple mega projects to include dams, tunnels, LNG facilities, giga factories, to name a few. We are seeking a candidate with excellent communication skills, a strong desire for career advancement, and sound leadership qualities.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
A history of providing senior-level guidance on complex geotechnical challenges for major projects. Support technical positioning and investigation strategy on large scopes. Acted as a trusted advisor to clients by elevating your team from "consultants" to strategic partners. Write "10-4" at the top of your resume before submitting application.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • P&L Responsibility
  • Ability to prepare technical proposals with little supervision.
  • Execute highly technical geotechnical engineering project assignments.
  • Support the Office of the COO in leading technical diligence for investments in geotechnical, robotics, nearshore tech, and advanced technology platforms.
  • Lead a team of geotechnical engineers.
  • Manage and coordinate geotechnical field and laboratory assignments.
  • Perform engineering analyses and report preparation.
  • Maintain client expectations for exceptional project quality and schedule.

REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 8+ years of relevant oil & gas / mega structure geotechnical engineering experience at a TOP 500 ENR company
  • Priority given to 5+ years as a supervisor with direct reports.
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering Required
  • Active PE License Required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • MBA a plus
  • 20% Travel (in Texas/ Louisiana)
