What You'll Do
As a Tooling Toolmaker you'll be part of our manufacturing team located in Decorah, IA. You'll get to:
Under supervision learn to read blueprints, use gages and equipment for the purpose of making and reworking header and secondary tooling for fastener manufacturing.
Utilize and understand the purpose and operation of required toolroom equipment.
Capable of making header tooling and set-ups to die prints with minimal supervision to meet necessary quality and productivity requirements for heading and secondary departments.
Reads all manufacturing and tooling blueprints and select and prepare necessary tools to meet print tolerances.
Maintains back-up tooling required to eliminate header downtime and enhance production efficiencies.
Follows schedules and prioritizes duties based on needs and productivity requirements or assigned by supervisor or leadperson.
Knows and follows ISO & IATF16949 and SPC procedures pertaining to toolroom.
Provides assistance to header operators with tooling needs to produce parts to specified dimensions.
Initiates T.C.R.'s and E.C.'s as needed to improve tooling designs as well as updates setup sheets and reviews obsolete orders.
Recognizes the acceptable quality of draw dies.
Learn how to interpret tooling and production prints.
Utilize and understand all toolroom inspection equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of work area.
Follow company safety guidelines.
Learn preventative maintenance procedures.
Follow all safety rules.
Performs all other duties as requested by Supervisor or Leadperson.
Must be available to work overtime as needed.

Educational certification in industrial-related field.
Header or tooling experience.
Tools Used:
Basic toolroom equipment ( lathes, grinders, and cut-off saws)
Basic inspection equipment ( micrometers, calipers, and indicators)
