The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is seeking a Construction Administrator to support civil infrastructure projects in the Buellton office. This role combines drafting, construction observation, and technical support activities for transportation, utility, stormwater, and site development projects.

Essential Job Functions:
Prepare and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience is a plus.

  • Incorporate engineer markups and comments into plan sets and project documents.
  • Draft exhibits, details, figures, and supporting graphics for engineering plans and technical reports.
  • Assist with preparation of construction documents and project deliverables.
  • Perform routine field inspections and document construction progress.
  • Prepare inspection reports and communicate field observations to project engineers.
  • Coordinate with contractors to address field conditions and support resolution of routine construction issues.
  • Organize and maintain inspection schedules and project documentation.
  • Verify construction activities generally conform to project plans and specifications.
  • Support project teams with data collection, documentation, and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Execute work safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, Construction Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting civil infrastructure, utility, transportation, site development, or construction projects preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD required; Civil 3D experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Familiarity with civil construction practices and field inspection procedures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to perform field work at project sites.

Physical Requirements:
     Ability to walk and stand for extended periods on active construction sites and uneven terrain.
     Ability to occasionally climb ladders, navigate trenches, or access elevated construction areas as required.
     Ability to perform light to moderate physical activity, including occasional lifting of equipment or materials up to approximately 40-50 pounds.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
     Combination of office-based work and outdoor construction site environments.
     Exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and active construction operations.
     Moderate noise levels and proximity to heavy equipment and construction activities.
     Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

     Employment Type: Full-time.
     Work Schedule: Standard weekday schedule with occasional extended or irregular hours depending on project needs.
     Travel Requirements: Local or regional travel to project sites may be required.
