Short Description
The Application Engineer Intern supports R&D and engineering projects within the industrial business unit by assisting with product testing, design updates, and prototype builds. The role involves coordinating documentation changes, analyzing and presenting test data, and helping evaluate new and existing products. Interns also handle customer inquiries, maintain product information, and collaborate across teams. This position is suited for mechanical engineering students with strong communication skills, basic technical knowledge, and the ability to work in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.

Education
Current College students (Sophomores, Juniors) pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering field in an accredited program.
Main Tasks
  • Participate in projects in the R&D/Engineering department in the Industrial business unit in the US region under the direction of the Application Engineering team
  • Coordinate design record and drawing changes with internal partners
  • Support validation and benchmarking process of new products, existing products or competitor products
  • Support prototype build activities (i.e. modification of existing products, general manufacturing assembly, etc)
  • Prepare presentations and reports of the test results for internal as well as external purposes
  • Investigate cross references for customer inquiries and recommend suitable alternative products
  • Modify and maintain product information in customer documentation (product manuals, data sheets)
  • Regularly report status of assigned projects and identify
  • Support Application Engineering by performing other duties as assigned

Skills
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle and powertrain systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Engineering-relevant tools (CAD)
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D data and interpretation
  • Ability to communicate easily and effectively with employees at all levels and functions throughout the company
  • Ability to multitask in a collaborative team and office setting
  • Willingness to take responsibility for projects as well as present key findings
