About the Position

  • Term: Fall 2026
  • Department: Inspection & Maintenance Systems (IMS)
  • Location: 800 Kipling Avenue, Toronto, ON - Hybrid
  • Term Length: 4 or 8 months (September 2026 - December 2026 or April 2027)
  • Year of Study: 3rd or 4th year preferred
  • Salary: The hourly rate for this position is $20.78-$25.67 per hour. Please note, the salary information provided is intended to be used as a guideline. Final rate offered will vary upon candidate's prior co-op/work experience, years of study completed, relevant skills, as well as internal equity considerations.

You will be a member of our Inspection and Maintenance Systems group working in the Automated Tooling and/or CWEST team. This department provides a full suite of services for the design, prototyping, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of inspection and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) systems and tooling:

  • Specialize in Nuclear tool design for inspection, repair and maintenance, including:
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Foreign Material Exclusion (FME)
  • Human Factors
  • Proof of concept
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Extensive outage execution experience with NDE expertise
  • Licensed Radiation Facility for tool decontamination, refurbishment and maintenance
  • Complete in-house machining capability enables quick turn-around times and 24-hr support

How You Will Make an Impact

This opportunity involves responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Interfacing with project managers, planners, other engineering disciplines, and customers when required
  • Assisting with commercial support including preparation of commercial dashboards and technical writing of project proposals, new product development initiatives, and other strategy or marketing related items
  • Maintaining project-level governance and non-conformance reporting
  • Performing technical work in the laboratory under supervision of senior technologists
  • Assisting technologists and engineers in carrying out customer-related projects
  • Providing miscellaneous project or administrative support as required

What You Need to Succeed

  • Currently enrolled full-time in a post-secondary, undergraduate Engineering program requiring a co-op placement
  • Detail-orientated, proactive approach, and have good organizational and planning skills
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to work co-operatively with a variety of staff or clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team situation
  • Familiarity with typical engineering disciplines and documentation
  • Excellent oral and written communications
  • High level of initiative
  • CAD program skills would be an asset
  • Strong excel skills and programming knowledge (Excel macros, SQL, etc.) would be an asset
  • Familiarity with data acquisition programs or systems is an asset
  • Familiarity with CANDU reactor design is an asset
  • General business knowledge and acumen is an asset
