Job description

We have an immediate opening for a Highway Engineering Project Manager for our Blacksburg, VA office. We are a rapidly growing company with a strong industry reputation and an expanding presence in the region. This position will play an important role in expanding our market presence companywide.

Core responsibilities include development and/or management of roadway design and plan production for highway projects, including but not limited to geometric design, drainage design, signing and pavement marking design, utility coordination, maintenance of traffic design, contract document development, and quality control reviews; client interaction; and staff mentoring and development.

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to develop highway engineering plans primarily for public sector clients including VDOT and other public entities. Our highway contracts range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchanges and new corridor designs to statewide and districtwide continuing services contracts. We also provide a full range of design-build and owner’s representative services.

Requirements:

The successful applicant must possess the following:

  • Must have 5 to 10 years of experience in highway design/project management
  • Must have an Associate’s degree in engineering or related major, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Virginia Professional Engineer license preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of VDOT construction plans, specifications, policies, and procedures required
  • Experience managing roadway projects and preparing contract documents in accordance with VDOT policies and procedures required; experience with other state and local agencies in the Mid-Atlantic a plus
  • Excellent communication and business development skills including developing client relations, strategic partnering, preparing proposals and presentations
  • Ability to travel to project sites, company offices and client meetings
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
  • Willingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company

The expected compensation range for this position is $90,000.00 - $185,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
