About the role:
Denver, CO- Hybrid
We are looking for a Project Engineer to support capital projects across a fleet of power generation facilities. You will focus on managing a portfolio of emergent and small-to-medium capital projects while it supports larger base and major capital projects.
This is a plant-based engineering role with a emphasis on project management and execution. You will guide projects from initial concept through completion. You will work with operations, reliability engineering, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, and according to plant needs.
The role typically follows a hybrid schedule, with approximately 3 days onsite per week and increased onsite presence during active project execution phases. Standard hours are Monday-Friday, with flexibility and occasional extended hours based on project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage multiple concurrent capital projects from initiation through completion
  • Partner with operations and reliability engineering teams to identify project needs and develop scopes and justifications
  • Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, cost estimates, and project documentation
  • Navigate internal capital request and approval processes for emergent work
  • Coordinate bidding, vendor selection, and procurement of materials and equipment
  • Oversee contractors in the field, ensuring safe execution and adherence to project specifications
  • Attend daily planning (POD) meetings to agree on priorities and ongoing work
  • Coordinate schedules for material deliveries, installations, and site activities
  • Support commissioning and project closeout activities
  • Maintain project tracking, budgets, and documentation using tools such as Excel, SharePoint, and project systems
  • Use drawing/document systems (e.g., ProjectWise) to review existing equipment and project layouts

Qualifications:
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field)
  • You have 2+ years of experience in engineering or project management, in a plant, manufacturing, or industrial environment
  • You have experience working with contractors, vendors, and external partners
  • You are comfortable developing scopes, managing budgets, and coordinating project execution
  • You are proficient with Microsoft (Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Experience with capital projects, contractor management, or plant operations
