Job description

Amazon is seeking an Engineering Program Manager with Structural Engineering proficiency to support the development and implementation of design standards across multiple building programs. This role will serve as the primary liaison between key internal Amazon design stakeholder teams, the Design and Construction team, external design teams and general contractors to aid design development and increase standardization across all Amazon building sites. The successful candidate will have extensive project management experience leading Engineering Programs on projects that include industrial warehouse/fulfillment facilities and/or manufacturing facilities.

The successful candidate will also have a proven record of leading multi-discipline coordination on new and in-flight design and construction projects, including Value Engineering (VE), and cost/schedule mitigating measures. This candidate must perform well in a fast-paced, multi-project environment and be capable of prioritizing critical work on each project.

Key job responsibilities
(1) Program Management:
Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
Develop and implement program-wide strategies, processes, and best practices
Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to align engineering programs with overall organizational goals
(2) Project Planning and Execution:
Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation
Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth project execution
Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to meet deadlines and objectives
(3) Technical Leadership:
Provide technical guidance and expertise on engineering systems and technologies
Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and drawing as needed
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
(4) Team Management:
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and project managers
Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment
(5) Quality Control:
Establish and maintain quality control processes for engineering systems and programs
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure work meets quality standards
Identify and resolve technical issues and discrepancies
(6) Customer Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on engineering-related matters
Manage client expectations and communicate project status regularly
Address and resolve client concerns promptly and effectively
(7) Financial Management:
Develop and manage program budgets
Monitor project costs and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate
Prepare financial reports and forecasts for senior management
(8) Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
Manage change of orders and contract modifications
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
(9) Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in engineering systems
Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity
