Job description

The SCADA Integration & Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, implementing, and supporting automation systems used in hydraulic fracturing and related oilfield operations. This role develops PLC control logic, HMI interfaces, and SCADA applications to optimize equipment performance, improve operational visibility, and enhance process reliability. The engineer will work closely with field personnel and clients to troubleshoot issues, perform system upgrades, and ensure seamless communication between company equipment and customer systems.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, test, and implement PLC control programs based on process narratives, operational requirements, and equipment specifications.
  • Design and maintain intuitive Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications that improve operator effectiveness and system usability.
  • Expand, enhance, and support SCADA platforms to monitor equipment performance, collect operational data, and provide real-time analytics.
  • Configure and troubleshoot communication networks and protocols between field equipment, control systems, and client infrastructure.
  • Conduct field and customer site visits to perform system installations, upgrades, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve automation, controls, communication, and instrumentation issues in both office and field environments.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and customer personnel to ensure automation systems meet operational requirements and performance expectations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for control systems, software revisions, communication architectures, and operational procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance automation performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.

Requirements
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with the Inductive Automation platform (Ignition).
  • Strong knowledge of Modbus ASCII and Modbus RTU communication protocols.
  • Experience developing and supporting SCADA systems and HMI applications.
  • Understanding of industrial networking, instrumentation, and control system integration.
