Job Summary:
Oversee and support construction program development and implementation for all capital projects undertaken by Project Engineering and Execution Americas
In Project Engineering and Execution Americas, the Project Manager is accountable for the execution of all assigned projects. The department management team is responsible for supporting the project managers to achieve their project goals. The Program Manager, Construction, Project Execution forms a vital link in this chain by ensuring proper planning, staffing, and implementation of construction for capital projects.

Principal Responsibilities:
Promote a culture where all employee and contractor behaviors demonstrate care for themselves, others, and the environment.
Drive a continuous improvement in Project Engineering and Execution for construction.
Develop, maintain, update, implement and staff the construction program for Capital Projects. Messer relies on outsource resources for most of our construction activities. This role, recruits, trains, schedules, and reviews these resources continuously to ensure our projects are properly staffed.
Develop and improve standard practices for construction of plants. Leverage knowledge of ASU and CO2 plants to ensure proper due diligence in construction prior to handover to commissioning for check out activities.
Support the Proposal team in the development of Project Definition and Execution Strategies as related to construction of plants/projects.
As required, participate in PSR4, PSR5 and PSSR processes.
Assist the Director, Large CAP Project Execution in identifying gaps in construction practices and processes. Drive solutions, and best practices.
Provide input and support the development of construction supervision training. Conduct training as needed.
Develop, implement, and oversee QA/QC process as relates to construction of plants.
Oversee individual plant construction efforts (50% of time).
Other responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills:
  • Degree or apprenticeship in appropriate field; degree in Construction Management preferred.
  • 10 years construction related experience in the Chemical Process Industries or other relevant industry.
  • Experience with construction safety practices and procedures.
  • Understanding and experience with QA/QC theory and application.
  • Mastery of construction processes, systems, tools, and application.
  • Knowledge of large industrial gas operations preferred.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of project and operations teams.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Degree or apprenticeship in appropriate field
  • 10 years construction related experience in the Chemical Process Industries or other relevant industry.

The salary range for this position is $118,000 - $157,000. Messer provides medical, dental, vision, short term disability, life insurance and paid time off as well as other voluntary benefits, such as, long term disability in accordance with the terms and conditions of these Plans. Employees are eligible to enroll in Messer's 401(k) Plan. Employees may be eligible to participate in the company's bonus program.
