Job Summary
Job Summary
We are seeking a Radiation Physics / Radiation Protection Consultant to support a large-scale accelerator and research facility upgrade project. The consultant will provide technical expertise in radiation protection engineering, accelerator radiation safety, shielding, radiation transport, radiological hazard assessments, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform radiation shielding evaluations and radiation transport analyses.
  • Support accelerator radiation safety and radiological design activities.
  • Conduct ALARA evaluations and radiological hazard assessments.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, design packages, procedures, and readiness documentation.
  • Develop and review radiation protection calculations, technical reports, procedures, and technical basis documents.
  • Provide field support during installation, testing, commissioning, and readiness activities.
  • Support regulatory and compliance reviews and corrective actions.
  • Participate in technical, design, risk, and readiness review meetings.
  • Provide technical support for external/regulatory reviews and resolve review comments.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Radiation Physics, Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in radiation protection and/or radiation physics.
  • Hands-on experience with radiation shielding and radiation transport analysis.
  • Experience with accelerator radiation safety is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of ALARA principles and radiological hazard assessment.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, and engineering review skills.
  • Ability to work with engineering, safety, quality, and project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with particle accelerators, synchrotrons, beamlines, or research facilities.
  • Experience with radiation transport tools such as MCNP, FLUKA, or Geant4.
  • Experience supporting DOE, national laboratory, or similar regulated environments.
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, field assessments, and readiness reviews.
