Job description

The primary role of the Shaft Surveyor is to provide the necessary survey control for the construction and development of all facilities, infrastructure, and excavations, both on the surface and underground, and update all as built drawings within this area of responsibility.

Education: 
1. Mining/Survey/Engineering Technician Diploma (2 years or greater required) or equivalent experience. 
 

Work Experience:
1. 3-5 years' experience in underground operating mine sites is preferred.
 

Knowledge Required: 
1. Proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCad, Amine, or alternate drafting/mining software.
2. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
3. Ability to multitask and work effectively.
4. Ability to safely use and handle a variety of tools, equipment, and materials. 
5. Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
6. Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work).
7. Ability to work as part of a project planning team.
8. Previous surveying experience is required.
9. Knowledge and experience of Auto CAD would be considered an asset.
10. MSHA Underground miner training would be considered an asset.
11. Underground Mining experience would be an asset as would knowledge of applicable mine regulations pertaining to construction in mining. 
12. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner.

4. Ensure all systems and procedures are in place for safe, productive, and a high-quality work. 
5. Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage. 
6. Install and maintain control points for all project construction including but not limited to surface facilities and services, and underground shaft, services, and infrastructure. 
7. Provide updated as built and planning drawings to required parties, as required. 
8. Liaise with project supervision and management, as well as contractors and client, to coordinate day to day survey requirements. 
9. Track all necessary engineering and construction data, and deliver reports on regular intervals, as assigned. 
10. Provide support to project management team as required. 
11. Provide information to the construction crews on a regular basis. 
12. Receive daily survey requirements from supervisor. 
13. Supervision of testing to ensure Quality of Product i.e., Shotcrete testing, Pull-tests, Concrete sampling, Bolt counts, etc. 
14. Ensure that Drawings and Mine Planning as requested by the Engineering Manager is timely and is accurate.
15. Complete any tasks, assignments, or requests of the Engineering Manager 
16. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
17. Comply with daily, weekly, and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures. 
18. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information. 
19. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations. 
20. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.
