The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the sterilization engineering function and developing a high-performing engineering team. This role establishes, develops and maintains engineering methodologies, systems and practices that meet Boston Scientific, customer and regulatory requirements while driving Lean, LBP and VIP initiatives. The Senior Engineering Manager also provides strong leadership, coaches and develops employees, and promotes the Boston Scientific Code of Conduct, values and behaviors.

Work model:

This role is based on-site at our Coventry, Rhode Island, facility.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

Establish and drive departmental goals designed to achieve plant and departmental cost and budget objectives.

Identify and implement effective commissioning and validation processes while supporting the development, qualification and ongoing quality of sterilization equipment and facilities to meet internal and external requirements.

Partner with cross-functional teams, including Global Sterilization Assurance, Transportation and Supply Chain Planning, to achieve organizational objectives.

Partner with the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Quality Systems teams to ensure compliance with environmental and quality standards.

Manage sterilization equipment upgrades and support maintenance activities to return sterilization equipment to service.

Support the installation of ancillary equipment supporting sterilization operations, building control systems, HVAC systems and related equipment, including pumps, boilers, air handling units, air compressors, cooling towers, process gas systems and chillers.

Proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.

Drive, promote and support employee involvement, accountability and execution of key business initiatives, including Lean, LBP, Six Sigma, diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), and employee engagement.

Coach, mentor and develop engineering staff to achieve business and individual performance goals.

Recruit, develop and retain a high-performing engineering team.

Monitor and ensure compliance with safety standards to promote a safe work environment.

Develop, revise and maintain company and departmental policies and procedures as needed.

 

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.

Minimum of 7 years' experience in engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 4 years' experience in the medical device or healthcare industry.

Minimum of 5 years' experience leading and managing people.

Demonstrated ability to champion innovative ideas and techniques that foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Ability to direct and manage functional activities, projects, programs and budgets.

Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to build high-performing teams in a safety- and quality-focused environment.

Customer-focused mindset with the ability to anticipate customer needs and exceed expectations.

Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, employee safety and product quality.
