The Manager, Industrial Engineering leads the analysis and optimization of operational processes by applying advanced work measurement techniques and workforce management strategies. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data analysis and industry best practices to enhance productivity and cost efficiency. The manager collaborates cross-functionally to align project execution with business objectives and ensures compliance with company standards. By promoting a culture of accountability and innovation, this position supports sustainable operational excellence and contributes to delivering exceptional value to customers and stakeholders.
About the team:
The Industrial Engineering team within Workforce Intelligence drives operational excellence across Walmart’s omnichannel network, impacting scheduling for approximately 1.6 million associates. Combining field observations with data analysis, the team identifies productivity improvements and develops actionable solutions. Members evaluate new processes, tools, and automation to quantify labor impacts and enhance efficiency. This team addresses a wide range of challenges at scale, collaborating across business units to implement smarter work methods. The role offers the opportunity to see tangible results in stores while contributing to innovative workforce management strategies that support Walmart’s commitment to operational effectiveness and continuous improvement.
What you'll do:
  • Analyze store processes using work measurement techniques including predetermined motion time systems and time study to optimize operations.
  • Apply workforce management tools such as forecasting, reporting, and data analysis to meet productivity and utilization targets.
  • Develop and assess process changes impacting facilities, equipment, and personnel to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Lead project plans and timelines, providing status updates and technical guidance to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Identify improvement opportunities by comparing current processes to industry best practices and company standards.

  • Certification in Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST) and expertise in predetermined motion time systems and time study methodologies.
