Blue Ridge Energy is seeking a Transmission & Distribution Engineering Manager to lead the planning, design, mapping, and development of our electric system while helping ensure safe, reliable service for the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do

As the Transmission & Distribution Engineering Manager, you will provide leadership and technical expertise to support the growth, reliability, and operation of Blue Ridge Energy's electric system. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop a team of technical professionals.
  • Prepare and manage Construction Work Plans and Long-Range System Plans.
  • Oversee electric system planning, design, and analysis, including:
    • Load flow studies
    • Voltage drop studies
    • Capacitor studies
    • System loss studies
    • Protection and coordination reviews
  • Develop, implement, and audit transmission and distribution design standards.
  • Maintain accurate electric system mapping, connectivity, and GIS data.
  • Manage systemwide Pole Attachment and Joint Use agreements.
  • Manage systemwide Land Rights
  • Support substation and transmission construction projects through planning, budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with RUS, NESC, environmental, and construction standards.
  • Provide engineering support for system loading, switching, outage restoration, and power quality investigations.
  • Develop and manage departmental capital and operating budgets.
  • Review and prepare transmission, substation, and distribution switching orders.
  • Deliver engineering training and technical support to operations personnel across the cooperative.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Director of Engineering Services and collaborate across departments to achieve organizational goals.

What Is Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems emphasis, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in electric transmission and distribution systems.
  • Experience with transmission and distribution system protection and coordination.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of RUS and NESC standards.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Experience with Milsoft WindMil required.
  • Experience with Eaton CYMTCC and Power Monitors Inc. ProVision software preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
