Overview:
Our Culture and Impact
Cvent is a leading meetings, events, and hospitality technology provider with more than 5,500+ employees and ~30,000 customers worldwide, including 60% of the Fortune 500. Founded in 1999, Cvent delivers a comprehensive event marketing and management platform for marketers and event professionals and offers software solutions to hotels, special event venues and destinations to help them grow their group/MICE and corporate travel business. Our technology brings millions of people together at events around the world. In short, we're transforming the meetings and events industry through innovative technology that powers the human connection.
Cvent's strength lies in its people, fostering a culture where everyone is encouraged to think like entrepreneurs, taking risks and making decisions confidently. We value diverse perspectives and celebrate differences, working together with colleagues and clients to build strong connections.
AI at Cvent: Leading the Future
Are you ready to shape the future of work at the intersection of human expertise and AI innovation? At Cvent, we're committed to continuous learning and adaptation-AI isn't just a tool for us, it's part of our DNA. We're looking for candidates who are eager to evolve alongside technology. If you love to experiment boldly, share your discoveries, and help define best practices for AI-augmented work, you'll thrive here. Our team values professionals who thoughtfully integrate AI into their daily work, delivering exceptional results while relying on the human judgment and creativity that drive real innovation.
Throughout our interview process, you'll have the chance to demonstrate how you use AI to learn, iterate, and amplify your impact. If you're excited to be part of a team that's leading the way in AI-powered collaboration, we'd love to meet you.
Cvent's Event Cloud Registration platform is the backbone of how planners design, launch, and manage attendee experiences at scale. The Registration team owns the end-to-end attendee journey-from event creation and configuration through complex registration flows, payment processing, and attendee management. The team's work touches every major product initiative in the planner ecosystem and directly shapes outcomes for thousands of events and millions of attendees worldwide.
This role will have a meaningful impact on Cvent's most strategically important Registration initiatives, including an AI-powered planner assistant, and next-generation event creation experiences. These are high-visibility projects that span multiple engineering teams and require a leader who can drive technical direction, align stakeholders, and ship at scale without sacrificing quality.
We're looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead one or more Registration sprint teams-someone who combines strong people leadership with technical credibility. You will be accountable for team performance, predictable delivery, and the professional growth of your direct reports, while ensuring Registration gives planners a fast, intuitive, and reliable foundation to build world-class events.
In This Role, You Will:
People & Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of autonomy, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals and expectations; run regular 1:1s; deliver timely, candid feedback; conduct performance reviews with no surprises; and build individualized career development plans.
  • Support onboarding, training, and skill development aligned to engineering competencies and each engineer's growth trajectory.
  • Hire and retain strong talent; partner with recruiting to build an inclusive, high-trust team where engineers are excited to do their best work.

Technical & Delivery Leadership
  • Partner with Architects and Tech Leads to drive sound technical decisions across a modern stack that includes TypeScript/JavaScript, React, Java, REST/GraphQL APIs, and AWS cloud services.
  • Own roadmap execution for your team's area: define epics, scope work, set milestones, manage dependencies, and deliver on a predictable cadence.
  • Champion high standards for design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, observability, and documentation throughout the SDLC.
  • Continuously improve CI/CD workflows, developer experience, and operational excellence-including incident response, on-call posture, and post-incident reviews.
  • Drive the adoption and integration of AI-powered capabilities within the Registration platform, including the AI-powered planner assistant, and intelligent event creation workflows.

AI Enablement & Innovation
  • Lead engineering efforts on AI-powered planner assistant features, collaborating with Product and Data Science to define, build, and iterate on intelligent experiences that reduce planner friction.
  • Guide your team in applying AI tools-coding assistants, documentation copilots, and prompt-based automation-to improve engineering productivity and workflow quality.
  • Evaluate and champion emerging AI patterns relevant to Registration: natural language event creation, contextual recommendations, agentic planning workflows, and smart defaults.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Product Management and UX to translate strategic priorities-AI-powered assistant, event creation-into well-scoped technical plans with clear milestones.
  • Collaborate with adjacent engineering teams (platform, integrations, data, CDF) to align on shared APIs, dependencies, and architectural boundaries.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with stakeholders on priorities, trade-offs, timelines, and risks; surface issues early with solution options rather than just problems.
  • Represent your team's work in cross-functional planning forums, architecture reviews, and leadership updates.

Here's What You Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
  • 4+ years of direct people management experience in a software engineering organization.
  • Demonstrated hands-on technical proficiency-comfortable engaging in architecture decisions, design reviews, and code reviews that raise the bar for the team.
  • Experience delivering full-stack or backend-heavy features in an agile environment, with strong fundamentals in distributed systems, REST/GraphQL APIs, and cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).
  • Proven ability to drive predictable delivery: defining scope, managing risk, setting milestones, and shipping quality software on a consistent cadence.
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams and strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Fluency using AI tools (coding assistants, documentation or search copilots, prompt-based automation) to improve engineering productivity and team workflows.
  • Experience designing or integrating AI-driven features into user-facing products-or a strong curiosity and demonstrated learning in this space.

Preferred
  • Experience building event-driven, near-real-time systems or complex multi-step user registration and booking flows.
  • Familiarity with AI agent frameworks, LLM integration patterns, or conversational UI experiences embedded in SaaS products.
  • Comfortable presenting technical concepts, trade-offs, and roadmaps to senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
  • Prior exposure to the event technology domain; experience with the Cvent platform or similar enterprise event management products is a plus.
