What We Need:

We are looking for a  Colors, Materials, + Finishes Development Engineer to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings team. 

As a Colors, Materials, + Finishes Development Engineer, you will perform a variety of engineering activities related to our product development process.  This includes both new product development and existing product support  These roles require strong problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities.  With this, you will capture critical knowledge of many facets of operations, as well as opportunities for long-term career growth.  Our Engineers often advance into areas such as supply chain or engineering leadership and develop very well-rounded foundations of knowledge.

What You Will Do:

  • Participate in new product development activities
  • Analyze data, identify opportunities and develop business case to support conclusion
  • Participate and contribute to rapid continuous improvement teams to ensure proper implementation of new product development projects
  • Work cross-functionally with Strategic Procurement, Product Business Management, Product Engineering and Operations to build an effective network of communication and support to achieve organizational results
  • Conduct investigations toward standardization of product components

What You Have:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering
  • 2 years of work experience specific to engineering; internships and co-ops will be considered

What You’re Good At:

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Lean Manufacturing principles including RCI, 3P, Value Stream Mapping, and statistical analysis
