Who We're Looking For
Toyota's Integrated Vehicle Systems Department develops advanced vehicle systems and software that support safe, reliable, and high-quality mobility experiences. We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Engineer II who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating across global teams, and advancing vehicle technology from development through production readiness.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, ADAS Systems and Software, this role will contribute to developing, integrating, validating, and resolving issues in advanced driver assistance software and vehicle systems. Your work will help deliver production-ready features that meet Toyota's performance, reliability, quality, and customer expectations.
What You'll Be Doing
Success in this role means helping complex vehicle systems perform reliably while keeping technical activities aligned with program goals. Your day may involve analyzing system behavior, coordinating with suppliers and global partners, supporting validation, and resolving issues across software, controllers, networks, sensors, and vehicle interfaces.
  • Support cross functional engineering activities across software, controllers, sensors, system integration, vehicle validation, and system benchmarking
  • Analyze complex system behavior across software, controller, network, vehicle, and supplier interfaces to identify root causes and develop effective technical countermeasures
  • Coordinate supplier technical deliverables, including requirements alignment, issue tracking, development schedules, validation status, and production readiness
  • Collaborate with engineering teams in Japan, global suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support development milestones, technical reviews, and informed decision-making
  • Define, review, and validate system and software requirements for controllers, vehicle functions, diagnostics, interfaces, and performance targets
  • Support software simulation, hardware simulation, bench, and vehicle testing activities through test planning, data analysis, defect review, and validation reporting
  • Share technical knowledge and partner with team members to strengthen project execution, product quality, and team capability

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 3 or more years of professional engineering experience, including at least 2 years in automotive engineering involving advanced driver assistance systems, vehicle systems, embedded software, controls, systems integration, or related areas
  • 3 or more years of experience leading technical projects, engineering workstreams, cross-functional teams, or supplier-led development activities
  • Hands-on experience with controllers, embedded software, system requirements, vehicle networks, diagnostics, software simulation, hardware simulation, bench testing, or vehicle-level validation
  • Experience managing technical deliverables with automotive suppliers and collaborating with Japan-based teams or global development organizations
  • Experience supporting vehicle troubleshooting, data collection, validation, and issue resolution, along with a motor vehicle record that meets company standards
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% and work overtime as needed to support project objectives.

Added Bonus If You Have
  • Master's degree that deepens your expertise in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5 or more years of automotive engineering experience, including 3 or more years supporting advanced driver assistance systems, automated driving, embedded software, or vehicle systems integration programs
  • Experience with AUTOSAR, CAN, LIN, Ethernet communication, diagnostics, requirements management tools, calibration tools, vehicle data analysis tools, or sensor and controller integration
  • Project Management Professional, Automotive Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination, ISO 26262, or functional safety experience that strengthens technical project delivery
  • Japanese language proficiency or direct experience working with Japan-based automotive manufacturers, suppliers, or engineering teams
