Job description

Arconic is currently in search of a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Rolled Products North America (RPNA) Manufacturing, Technology, and Engineering (MTE) Team, based out of Davenport, IA, Lancaster, PA or Alcoa, TN.

Job Summary:

The MTE group is responsible for equipment reliability improvement, process improvement, equipment troubleshooting and upgrade support, automation and smart manufacturing, standard practice implementation, and major capital projects. This is a key role in the global Manufacturing, Technology, and Engineering Team within the Rolled Products business group of Arconic Corp.  This business group has several domestic and international manufacturing facilities the  Senior Electrical Engineer will support. The incumbent will be required to act with a high degree of autonomy in the performance of assignments. 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide engineering support and leadership of the high voltage electrical drives and large AC/DC motors used across Arconic rolling network.  Areas of responsibility will include large motor equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, engineering support to maintenance, operations and engineers in production areas throughout the plant, electrical safety programs, and project management. 
  • Provide electrical engineering and continuous improvement support, problem solving, technical solutions to recurring design, process and application problems, maintenance and engineering training and documentation.
Also note:
  • While this role with have global responsibility, the home location is preferred to be located at our location in Davenport, IA.
  • Travel will be required by the successful candidate.

You have: (required) 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years of electrical engineering experience within a metals or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Electrical engineering experience with large AC/DC motors, automation, process control systems, drives, and PLC's. 
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.

Exceptional Candidates also have: 

  • Experience in DC and AC Motor maintenance and applications.
  • Experience in AC and DC Drive technology and applications.
  • Experience leading, managing and implementing electrical projects including design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Ability to oversee the activities of craft persons involved in the implementation of engineered solutions and maintenance activities. In this role, be able to initiate and maintain an ongoing dialogue with personnel to identify issues, clarify requirements, and facilitate use of safe work practices, personal protective equipment, clearance / lock-tag-verify procedures.
  • Management of external vendors who provide electrical design and support functions
  • The Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and with cross functional teams. 
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering, industry safety standards and related codes and specifications. 
  • 10 years’ experience and working knowledge of electrical systems and manufacturing processes and principles in a metals or heavy industry.
  • Experience in medium voltage distribution and transformer maintenance and applications.
  • Experience in estimating, justifying, managing, and installing capital projects. 
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering, industry safety standards and related codes and specifications. 
  • Strong electrical engineering, maintenance and reliability background.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills. 
  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills.
