Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering Internship (Project-Based)

Location: Salt Lake City, UT (Must be local to Salt Lake)
Duration: 2-3 Months
Schedule: 4-6 Hours per Day (Flexible)
Compensation: Paid Internship DOE (Plus project completion bonus)

Are you an Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering student looking for real-world experience that goes beyond observation? We're looking for a motivated, analytical intern to help improve quality processes within our manufacturing operation.

This is a project-based internship where you'll have the opportunity to work directly with production teams, learn manufacturing operations firsthand, and design a practical reporting solution that will have a lasting impact on our business.

What You'll Do

  • Learn the day-to-day manufacturing processes in our countertop production facility.
  • Observe workflows and identify opportunities to improve quality reporting.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors, quality personnel, and leadership.
  • Design and develop an efficient tool or application for reporting quality issues as they occur on the production floor.
  • Create a user-friendly process that enables quick, accurate, and consistent quality reporting.
  • Present your final solution and recommendations to company leadership.

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or Quality Management.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel or other data analysis tools is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Power Apps, Microsoft Power Platform, SQL, Python, Power BI, or other application development tools is a plus-but not required.
