Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries Fab 8 seeks highly skilled and motivated Factory Automation Engineer to develop, deploy, and configure factory
dispatch rules, scheduling systems, optimization models, and related applications to meet tool ramp and production output goals.
Essential Responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for supporting work in progress (WIP) management decision support application infrastructure for GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 8 in Malta, New York
  • Develop, deploy, and configure factory dispatch rules, scheduling systems, optimization models, and related applications to meet tool ramp and production output goals
  • Design and develop optimization, heuristic, and rule-based dispatching, and scheduling algorithms to improve factory performance
  • Utilize the Real-Time Dispatch (APF RTD) application to optimize dispatch rules ("What Next" and "Where Next") that effectively manage WIP movement and tool usage to improve utilization and efficiency, increase manufacturing predictability, and maximize Fab (manufacturing facility) output performance

Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education - At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
  • Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
  • Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
  • Ability to work at least 20 hours per week during the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior related internship or co-op experience
  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
  • Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning & organizational skills
  • Familiarity with the application of industrial engineering practices, WIP Management, Production Control and with demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and Shell scripting
