Job description

Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a position available for a limited-term, full-time electrical engineering intern to work on airport design projects (taxiways, aprons, runways, etc.) based in our Elizabeth, NJ office starting in Spring/Summer 2027 and ending in Fall 2027.
The intern will be responsible for assisting engineers, design technicians, and construction managers with electrical airfield engineering projects in the following areas:
  • Preparing electrical engineering documents
  • Assisting with the analysis, preparation or modification of reports, plans, schedules, studies, and designs for projects
  • Performing electrical design calculations, quantities, and cost estimates
  • Assisting with the preparation of design and construction budgets
  • Designing airport electrical systems such as lighting for runways, taxiways, and aprons
  • Technical research and writing
  • May assist with field inspection, documentation, and survey work
  • Other duties as assigned.

A valid driver's license and occasional travel will be required.
Successful candidates must have completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in electrical or civil engineering from an accredited college or university by their start date.
The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all the following:
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Civil3D software
  • Understanding of basic electrical engineering design concepts
  • Electrical or civil engineering coursework
