Air Systems Maintenance, Inc. (ASM) is a leading commercial HVAC maintenance, service, and contracting company based in Kenilworth, NJ. Founded in 1964, we have decades of experience servicing commercial and industrial facilities throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Our experienced technicians work on everything from rooftop units to large-scale chillers, with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and customer service.


About the Role

Air System Maintenance (ASM) is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in the HVAC and commercial building systems industry while earning academic credit toward their engineering degree.

The intern will work alongside ASM’s engineering, service, and operations teams, applying classroom knowledge to real-world HVAC, mechanical, and building systems projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with HVAC and mechanical system projects, inspections, and assessments.
  • Support equipment documentation, inventories, and preventive maintenance tracking.
  • Collect and analyze equipment and operational data.
  • Assist with engineering calculations, measurements, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Review equipment specifications, drawings, manuals, and system documentation.
  • Support energy-efficiency and building optimization initiatives.
  • Participate in field visits and site inspections.
  • Assist with project coordination and tracking.
  • Work with engineers, technicians, and operations teams on special projects.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Eligible to receive college/university credit.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
