The Supply Chain Planning Intern will gain hands-on experience in developing and optimizing medium- to long-term supply chain processes that influence supplier decisions, material flow, and logistics costs. The role offers broad exposure to end-to-end supply chain planning and an opportunity to actively contribute to advancing the team's capabilities in process excellence and digitalization.
The intern will collaborate with key process partners across Packaging, Material Flow / Lineside Planning, Transportation, and Material Control to build a comprehensive understanding of supply chain operations within a complex production environment.
In addition to supporting daily operations, the intern will help drive process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and digital innovation initiatives, contributing to the continuous evolution of modern, data-driven supply chain planning.
The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
  • Assist in quarterly audits to ensure adherence to supply chain concepts across all process partners
  • Identify improvement opportunities and support process optimization and efficiency enhancement initiatives
  • Contribute to project management activities, taking ownership of defined work packages based on internship objectives
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate impacts on logistics cost structures and operational performance
  • Support supply chain monitoring and concept planning for direct delivery processes in both Assembly Halls (Series & New Model Development)
  • Assist in developing and optimizing supply strategies, including emergency concepts, aligned with corporate standards
  • Coordinate, support, and document cross-functional review meetings and workshops
  • Support strategic projects such as integration of future models into existing supply chains and preparation of presentations for critical lineside issues
  • Contribute to the implementation and optimization of supply chains for direct delivery suppliers
  • Conduct logistical and financial impact analyses for product or process changes
  • Perform process mapping, evaluation, and redesign, identifying non-value-adding activities
  • Support the identification and implementation of digital solutions (e.g., dashboards, automation, reporting tools) to improve transparency and decision-making
  • Help drive digitalization initiatives, including data analysis, visualization (e.g., Power BI), and process standardization
  • Initially provide observational and analytical support, with increasing ownership in identifying innovative logistics solutions and improvement opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel (e.g., XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables)
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools
  • Basic knowledge of data modeling is preferred
  • Strong interest in process improvement, data-driven analysis, and digital transformation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and resourcefulness
  • Ability to adapt in a complex and fast-changing environment
  • High degree of initiative and ownership
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Work Term Dates: March 8th, 2027- September 17th, 2027.
  • Must be enrolled at a university outside of the United States.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the US grading scale
  • Must have completed a prior BMW internship of at least 3 months in length.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week).
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • Must provide the following paperwork in English:

    • Cover letter (not required).
    • Relevant references and certificates (not required).
