DELIVERING SOLUTIONS IS WHAT WE DO. It’s our heritage and our future. Because we don’t just engineer. We build innovative solutions that drive progress, ensure safety, and shape the world around us.

MECO Engineering is at its best when every member of our team feels respected, included, and empowered—when everyone can show up as themselves and do their best work every day. We are a multi-disciplined firm specializing in civil, mechanical/electrical, and structural engineering, as well as land surveying services. Since 1985, we have been assisting rural communities and water districts in meeting their public works needs. Our team-based problem-solving approach, combined with decades of  experience, allows us to deliver uniquely creative solutions to today’s complex regulatory and funding challenges. Our projects, spanning from wastewater systems to transportation infrastructure, are a testament to our dedication to quality and innovation.

About the Role
The Engineering Technician will work closely with project engineers and project managers to prepare design drawings, technical exhibits, and project documentation for municipal, public works, and government projects. The ideal candidate will have strong Civil 3D skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a small-team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D, including: site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, roadway and drainage design, plan and profile sheets.
  • Assist in drafting, design revisions, and production of construction documents.
  • Support project engineers with modeling surfaces, corridors, pipe networks, and quantity takeoffs.
  • Maintain organized drawing files and adhere to company drafting standards.
  • Perform basic technical calculations and assist with project reports.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure accurate and timely deliverables for municipal and government clients.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D (3+ years experience preferred).
  • Experience preparing civil engineering plans (municipal or public works experience a plus).
  • Strong understanding of drafting standards, layering, and plan production.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with municipal infrastructure (water, sewer, stormwater, roadway).
  • Knowledge of local, state, or federal design standards.
  • Associate degree in civil engineering technology, drafting, or related field.
  • Experience with other software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or GIS tools.

Compensation

  • This position offers a salary range of $50,000-60,000 per year along with comprehensive health benefits, PTO, and holiday pay.
  • The listed salary range reflects the potential compensation for this role. Starting pay will be based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
