G3 Boats/Yamaha is looking to hire an Engineering Manager. We're looking for an Engineering Manager who can lead with vision, build with precision, and bring big ideas to life on the water.
As our Engineering Manager, you'll guide and develop a talented engineering and R&D team-steering everything from concept to completion. You'll direct, coordinate, and champion the planning, organization, and execution of engineering projects that push our products forward. Whether it's refining a hull design, improving a manufacturing process, or launching a new model, you'll be at the helm.
You'll collaborate across departments to solve manufacturing challenges, streamline processes, and ensure new technologies and designs move smoothly from prototype to production. Essential Job Functions: (responsibilities, duties and standards of the position, including supervisory level and reporting relationship)
  1. Ensure boats meet marine safety regulations.
  2. Serve as the engineering leader and technical authority, providing guidance, direction, and expertise across all engineering activities.
  3. Cultivate a team culture grounded in ownership, collaboration, and empathy, reinforcing the organization's core values and commitment to excellence.
  4. Lead the development of proof-of-concept models and prototypes, transforming innovative ideas into functional designs.
  5. Establish standards, structure, and best practices for workshops, training programs, and engineering projects.
  6. Create detailed, high-quality engineering plans, processes, and procedures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the team.
  7. Propose, manage, and monitor budgets and timelines for engineering initiatives, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within scope.
  8. Verify the accuracy and integrity of engineering work, reviewing methodologies, calculations, and outputs produced by the team.
  9. Develop and oversee the reliability program, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines.
  10. Conduct quality assurance reviews to validate the performance, safety, and craftsmanship of completed engineering projects.
  11. Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering high standards of quality, pride, and professional growth.
  12. Define and execute the engineering strategy to support the facility's long-term growth and innovation goals.
  13. Evaluate third-party products, technologies, and specifications to determine suitability for integration into current or future designs.
  14. Lead research and development initiatives, identifying opportunities for new products, improved processes, and enhanced performance.
  15. Collaborate and communicate effectively with managers, suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and project success.
  16. Coordinate and manage subcontracted engineering designs, ensuring deliverables meet quality, cost, and timeline expectations.
  17. Align engineering priorities with operations, sales, marketing, and supply chain, ensuring cohesive execution of company objectives.

Qualifications and Skills: (in terms of experience, education & training)
  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Marine, or Manufacturing Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
  2. 6+ years of progressive engineering experience, ideally with leadership or management responsibilities.
  3. Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
  4. Proven leadership capabilities, including the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
  5. Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to keep multiple projects, processes, and team activities on track.
  6. Self-driven and highly motivated, able to manage competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex engineering concepts for diverse audiences.
  8. Thorough understanding of engineering principles, design criteria, and industry best practices.
  9. Strong customer service orientation, with excellent time-management and organizational abilities.
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).

Occasional Duties:
  1. Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally as needed.
  2. Advocate for and implement changes to make the product easier to support and troubleshoot.
  3. Advocate and advance modern software development and organizational practices.
  4. Travel as needed.
  5. Evaluate scope, requirements, technical designs, and feasibility for upcoming work.
  6. Evaluate new product standards to sustain improvements.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety/Environmental/Physical Demands:
  1. Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while working in or around manufacturing areas.
  2. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)including safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper footwear-when entering production, testing, or prototype areas.
  3. Participate in safety training, hazard awareness programs, and incident-prevention initiatives.
  4. Identify and report unsafe conditions and support continuous improvement of plant safety practices.
  5. Ensure engineering projects and process changes comply with OSHA, environmental, and internal safety standards.

Environmental Conditions
  1. Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments, including exposure to noise, dust, odors, and varying temperatures.
  2. Occasional work around moving machinery, production equipment, chemicals, adhesives, and composite materials used in boat manufacturing.
  3. Regular interaction with fabrication, assembly, testing, and prototype development areas.
  4. Ability to navigate production floors, docks, and outdoor testing areas as needed.

Physical Demands
  1. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move between office and plant floor environments throughout the workday.
  2. Capability to lift, carry, or move materials, prototypes, or equipment up to approximately 25 pounds.
  3. Frequent use of computers, engineering tools, and office equipment for extended periods.
  4. Ability to conduct hands-on inspections, product evaluations, and process observations in manufacturing areas.
  5. Must be able to climb stairs, access elevated platforms, and maneuver around production fixtures or boat hulls when required.
  6. Occasional travel for supplier visits, training, or corporate meetings.
